Susan G. Komen Louisiana Announces Treatment Assistance Program
BATON ROUGE, La. – Susan G. Komen Louisiana today announced its partnership with the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans (CAGNO) to support women and men diagnosed with breast cancer in Louisiana. As part of Komen’s Bold Goal to reduce current breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026, Komen Louisiana will invest over $90,000 into their treatment assistance program.
Angee Nolan, CEO of Komen Louisiana shared, “Komen Louisiana is very excited to partner with CAGNO to provide financial assistance to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and are struggling to meet financial needs. We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with CAGNO.”
Assistance is available for breast cancer patients for the following services: cost of doctor’s visits and treatment related to breast cancer and associated conditions, lymphedema care/supplies, durable medical equipment, nutritional supplements, childcare, elder care, transportation, lodging, rent, and utilities.
“We at CAGNO are excited about this new partnership to help bring assistance to so many women that have been diagnosed with breast cancer,” said Tammy Swindle, Executive Director of CAGNO.
The program is open to those receiving treatment for breast cancer who live in the Komen Louisiana 56-parish service area which includes Acadia, Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Cameron, Catahoula, Claiborne, Concordia, De Soto, East Baton Rouge, East Carroll, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Franklin, Grant, Iberia, Iberville, Jackson, Jefferson Davis, La Salle, Lafayette, Lafourche, Lincoln, Livingston, Madison, Morehouse, Natchitoches, Ouachita, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Red River, Richland, Sabine, St. Helena, St. James, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Terrebonne, Union, Vermillion, Vernon, Webster, West Baton Rouge, West Carroll, West Feliciana, and Winn.

Since 1958, CAGNO has been the local leader in the fight against cancer in Southeast Louisiana. CAGNO assists local cancer patients in 23 parishes with a mission to “promote cancer survivorship and reduce health disparities through local programs of Education, Outreach and Patient Services.” Many times, we are the last resort for cancer patients who have limited income. Our patient services program can help cover the costs of needed treatment medications, medical supplies, nutrition, gas cards and comfort items for cancer patients who cannot afford these necessities.
